Giving and Receiving Thanks on Thanksgiving.

Traditionally Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated with delicious food and the company of friends and family.  It is also a time of year when we reflect on our lives and the things we are thankful for.  This year, in particular, the Green Menu team are thankful for our jobs, good health, faithful families, strong friendships, loving pets, and a place to call home.

For many individuals and families, however, who are struggling to put food on the table, Thanksgiving isn’t so simple and can be a very stressful time of year.  Then there are nearly half a million Americans who are experiencing homelessness on any given night and don’t have those homes to go to.  For these individuals and families, the holidays are often permeated with even more increased anxiety and depression.

On this Thanksgiving, Green Menu asks that we not only be thankful for what we have but also to remember our common connections to those around us and to be generous and kind to those who are less fortunate than we are.

Green Menu expressed our thanks this week in the form of a donation of over 600 pounds of plant-based food to our friends at Foothills Unity Center in Monrovia who have been serving low-income families and those in crisis for more than 30 years.

Our volunteers would like to wish everyone, regardless of your circumstances, a happy, warm, safe, and healthy Thanksgiving this year!
